Eisner Awards 2020

Os vencedores dos Prémios Eisner 2020.

Já são conhecidos os vencedores dos Eisner Awards 2020. Como é habitual, damos a conhecer a lista dos vencedores, bem como os nomeados de todas as categorias.

A obra que granjeou mais prémios foi a já previamente premiada Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me de Mariko Tamaki e Rosemary Valero-O’Connell nas categorias de Melhor BD de Adolescentes, Melhor Desenho/Arte-Final e Melhor Argumentista (com a atenção de que esta última considera várias obras de Tamaki e não somente a referida).

Guts de Raina Telgemeier conquista dois Prémios (Melhor Argumentista/Artista e Melhor BD Infantil), uma notícia agridoce para os leitores portugueses. Este seria eventualmente o quinto livro de uma série dedicada à autora pela Devir, que foi descontinuada com o terceiro, Drama.

Outra obra com direito a 2 Prémios, foi Making Comics de Lynda Barry, nas categorias de Melhor Publicação Relacionada com BD e Melhor Design.

A única outra obra com direito a 2 Prémios foi a série Invisible Kingdom de G. Willow Wilson e Christian Ward, nas categorias de Melhor Nova Série e Melhor Pintor/Artista Digital.

Quais as obras premiadas que conheceram edição no nosso país?

Entre os 3 trabalhos que concederam a Tamaki o Prémio de Melhor Argumentista, inclui-se Harley Quinn: Através do Espelho (Levoir, 2020), apesar do peso relativo com que contribui para tal ser provavelmente menor do que a obra Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me.

A Casa de Paco Roca (Levoir, 2016) teve agora direito ao Prémio de Melhor Edição Norte-Americana de Material Internacional (leia-se, não original dos EUA nem da Ásia).

Dave Stewart foi galardoado com o Prémio de Melhor Colorista devido a 6 trabalhos. Destes, a série Gideon Falls encontra-se a ser publicada pela G. Floy, enquanto a série Black Hammer começou a ser publicada em 2019 pela Levoir, desconhecendo-se se esta editora irá prosseguir ou não com a publicação da mesma.

A obra da Taschen dedicada à recolha integral das pranchas dominicais de Krazy Kat não foi editada no nosso país, mas é uma série que conheceu edição parcial no nosso país em tempos.

Da generosa listagem de obras nomeadas, pouco há que acrescentar ao material editado em Portugal. Por um lado, foi publicada A História de uma Serva (Bertrand, 2020) de Renée Nault, baseada na obra de Margaret Atwood – com direito a uma nomeação nos Prémios Bandas Desenhadas 2020. Por outro lado, encontra-se em publicação em Portugal Criminal de Ed Brubaker e Sean Phillips (G. Floy) – série galardoada com um Prémio Bandas Desenhadas 2019. Por fim, a série Deuses Americanos está a ser publicada pela Saída de Emergência.

Mencionamos ainda a quarta nomeação consecutiva da livraria Kingpin Books para o prémio Will Eisner Spirit of Retailer Award, um feito de enorme valia se tivermos em conta o impacto e a projeção que a banda desenhada tem no nosso pais. O prémio foi atibuído à Nostromo Sevilla.

Termina-se com uma nota em que se lamenta nenhum autor de banda desenhada português ter participado em nenhuma das antologias letãs š! mais recentes, visto terem sido nomeados os volumes relativos ao período correspondente dos prémios, vol. 34 a 37. Com um volume inteiramente dedicado a Portugal e participação em 9 antologias no passado, teria sido interessante existirem também trabalhos portugueses nos 4 volumes que foram nomeados.
